Warranty
How the parts we sell and install are covered, what is not covered, and what to do if something fails.
We stand behind the parts we sell and the work we do. This page explains how warranty coverage works at the shop, what it does not include, and how to make a claim.
01Manufacturer warranties
The parts we sell and install are covered by the warranty of the company that made them. The manufacturer sets how long that warranty lasts, what it covers and what can void it, and those terms vary from brand to brand and from part to part.
If you want to know how a specific part is covered, ask us before it goes on. You can also find the terms in the paperwork that came with the part or on the manufacturer's website, and we are happy to help you look them up.
02What we add, and what we do not
We do not extend, change or add to any manufacturer's warranty. What we do is handle the claim for you: we deal with the manufacturer, keep you posted, and get the replacement or credit sorted once they approve it.
Most manufacturer warranties cover the part itself, not the labor to remove it and fit the replacement. Where the manufacturer does not pay for that labor, it is charged at our normal rate, and we will tell you the cost before we start.
03How to make a claim
1. Get in touch. Call 970-381-6412 or email maupinautomotiveservices@gmail.com with your invoice number, a description of the problem, and photos or a short video if you can.
2. We check it and contact the manufacturer. We look at the problem, open the claim with the manufacturer on your behalf, and pass on their decision. Some manufacturers need the failed part sent back for inspection before they decide.
3. Replacement or credit. Once the claim is approved, you get a replacement part or a credit, as set out in the manufacturer's terms.
04How long it takes
We will get back to you within two business days of hearing from you. After that, the timing is up to the manufacturer. Claims usually take a couple of weeks, and longer if the part has to be shipped back for inspection. We follow up with them so you do not have to.
05What is not covered
Coverage follows the manufacturer's terms, and those usually exclude normal wear, accident damage, abuse or neglect, racing or competition use, and parts that have been modified or installed by someone else.
Parts you buy elsewhere and bring in for us to fit are covered by whoever sold or made them, not by us, so any claim on those goes through them.
06Warranty disclaimer
Maupin Metalworks & Performance sells and installs parts made by other companies. Apart from the manufacturers' own warranties, and to the extent the law allows, we give no other warranty on the parts we sell, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose.
07Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not responsible for indirect or knock-on costs that follow a part failure, such as towing, a rental vehicle, time off work or lost income. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us for the part or service involved.
08If you disagree with a decision
If you are not happy with a warranty decision, talk to us first. Most things get sorted with a phone call. If we still cannot agree, our Terms & Conditions explain what happens next.
